Skopelos is the pine-forested island of the Sporades that played backdrop to Mamma Mia! — quieter than its Cycladic neighbours, and known for staying that way.
The villa's elevated position is a five-to-ten-minute walk, mostly downhill, from the harbour — quiet at the house, lively as soon as you want it to be.
The street the villa sits on stays residential and calm, even in the middle of August — a rarity for somewhere this close to the harbour. Whitewashed lanes, blue-shuttered houses, and the sound of the town's church bells carry up the hill more than any traffic does.
Skopelos itself is thickly forested with pine down to the waterline, which is part of why it reads greener and less crowded than the more famous islands nearby. Everything guests tend to want — shops, tavernas, the port, the bakery — is within an easy, mostly level walk.
